Cheque presentation to Dunolly Residential Community

Dunolly Residential Community receives $20,000 donation

Thursday 18th January, 2024

Maryborough District Health Service is grateful to receive a generous donation from the Rheola Charity Carnival.

Rheola Charity Carnival Committee Past President Peter Mason was on site at Dunolly Residential Community to present a cheque for $20,000 to Maryborough District Health Service CEO Nickola Allan.

The relationship between the Rheola Charity Carnival and Maryborough District Health Service spans most of the event’s remarkable 150 year history.

Over the years, funds raised by the Rheola carnival have directly contributed to the improvement of facilities and equipment at Dunolly Hospital, including the recent refurbishment of the dining room.

“The Rheola Charity Carnival has been an incredible supporter of Maryborough District Health Service and in particular our Dunolly campus,” said Nickola Allan.

“Not only is the Easter carnival a great, fun community event, the proceeds directly contribute to the health and wellbeing of the people of our region.”

“Money from the 2023 carnival will be used to improve our facilities and further enhance the experience of our patients and residents at Dunolly.”

“We are extremely grateful for the ongoing donations we receive,” said Mrs Allan.

There’s no stopping this fabulous, family event, which draws multiple generations of local families and visitors in their thousands each year. It appears nothing dampens people’s appetite for ‘real country entertainment’, whether that’s a vintage tractor pull, farm dog trials, or an egg toss.

Upwards of 4,000 folks passed through the gates last year after a 4-year Covid-induced hiatus. Plans are well underway to celebrate the 151st Rheola Charity Carnival on Easter Monday 2024.

“We wondered for a little while there whether we would even get to the 150th carnival. But there was a real enthusiasm to bring the carnival back,” said Peter Mason.

“It’s a great social event for the district. It brings people back with their children, and even grandchildren, keeping our community together and raising money for services like those here at Dunolly.”

Dunolly Residential Community is one of three residential communities managed by Maryborough District Health Service. The five-star rated facility has 19 single rooms, surrounded by bushlands and beautiful gardens.

The team at Dunolly is delighted to receive the generous donation
