Palliative Care is specialised multidisciplinary care for people with serious illnesses that focuses on providing patients with relief from the symptoms, pain and stress of a serious illness—whatever the diagnosis. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.
MDHS Palliative Care Services aim to achieve the best possible quality of life for clients, patients, residents, their carers and families.
When Palliative Care is required we want to offer care and support whether at home, in Merrin (MDHS' Palliative Suite) in Amherst ward of Maryborough Hospital, at one of MDHS' Residential Care facilities or a combination of these.
MDHS will provide person-centred palliative treatment, involving clients in all aspects of decision making in regards to care.
