Childbirth education session in the new birthing suites

Are you expecting a baby? Come along for a childbirth education session for a comprehensive, free childbirth education session on Saturday 12 July at 10.00 am.

This an opportunity to explore Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS) newly designed birthing suites and learn about the essential aspects of labour and birth.

Led by an experienced midwife the class will provide practical insights into pregnancy, labour, birth and the early parenting journey.

It’s ideal for first-time parents and a great refresher for those adding to their family.

The session including information on:

  • Understanding late pregnancy, including what’s normal and common conditions
  • Labour and birth basics from early labour to assisted births like caesareans
  • Strategies for managing labour and pain
  • What to expect after birth and in the first few days
  • Breastfeeding support and practical tips

Input and support from maternal and child health nurse will also be available to provide information and resources on services for families.

“Our goal is to provide expecting families with the knowledge and confidence they need as they prepare for this important life event,” said Penny Browne, Women and Children’s Services Manager, Maryborough District Health Service.

“This session not only covers essential information about labour and birth but also provides a sneak peek at our beautiful new facilities,” said Ms Browne.

Meet our midwife at the Café on the ground floor at 10.00 am, then proceed to the birth room on Level 1.

The class is run by Maryborough District Health Service to support local families on their parenting journey.

The Maternity Group Practice (MGP) program at Maryborough District Health Service provides continuity of care to pregnant women and their families.

Women are supported by a small team of midwives and GP Obstetricians throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal period.
