Welcome to Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS)
Maryborough Hospital has a proud history and has been operating in Maryborough for more than 150 years, MDHS was established in 1993 under the Health Services Act 1988.
MDHS is a high quality regional health service in Victoria, which provided health care across the lifespan from pre-natal and newborn babies to the aged, families and carers.
MDHS services the Central Goldfields and Pyrenees Shire with campuses in Avoca, Dunolly and Maryborough. The strong clinical and social links between the three campuses ensure that the community is cared for by qualified staff who are committed to high standards of person-centred care.
We employ over 400 staff, one of the largest employers in the region. Embedding a strong culture of education, MDHS has strong partnerships with universities.

Avoca is a beautiful area with tall river red gums surrounded by the backdrop of the Pyrenees Ranges with many wineries in the region producing some of Australia’s finest vintages. .
Dunolly is a small town of approximately 700 people, with a quiet charm and beautiful historic buildings situated amidst attractive bushland, 23km north of Maryborough.
Maryborough is central to the larger towns of Ballarat and Bendigo and approximately a two hour drive north west of Melbourne. Maryborough is renowned for its alluvial gold, but also has fine foods and local wines with cosy cafes and bakeries.
