Meet Kahlia MDHS GREAT People Award Winner

Kahlia has been a valued member of the MDHS team since 2013, starting on the casual bank in Dunolly and Amherst as an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse.

In 2014 she transitioned to a permanent position at Wattle Rise Nursing Home, later taking on roles in Pre-Admissions, Day Surgery and as an After-Hours Coordinator, supporting various units within MDHS.

Kahlia’s career has been shaped by flexibility, constant learning and the opportunity to work alongside inspiring healthcare professionals.

While nursing wasn’t initially planned as Kahlia’s career path, a desire to make a positive impact and improve the lives of patients and colleagues has driven her dedication to the profession.

The versatility of her work, from liaising with surgical teams to supporting patients through their recovery has been a source of fulfilment.

What truly stands out to Kahlia is the compassion and kindness that transform patient outcomes and create a supportive environment for everyone involved.

Working at MDHS has allowed Kahlia to stay close to family and actively contribute to the community. The sense of “family” and “personalised care” is something Kahlia cherishes and living within the community has provided the opportunity to see the direct impact of their work.

Outside of work, Kahlia enjoys baking treats and spending quality time with family and pets.

She is known for her thoughtful gestures, including festive traditions, random acts of kindness, and spreading joy through small surprises for colleagues.

These acts reflect their commitment to creating a positive and supportive environment for everyone.
