Heartfelt thanks to our aged care workers

Wednesday 7th August, 2024

Today is Aged Care Employee Day, and we join the nation in recognising the outstanding contributions of our aged care workers.

On behalf of our Board and Executive Team, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing team here at Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS).

We are incredibly proud of our team, who continue to go above and beyond to significantly impact the lives of our residents at Wattle Rise Maryborough, Avoca, and Dunolly Residential Communities, as well as those receiving in-home support.

From nurses, personal care workers, allied health, wellness and lifestyle staff to cooks, cleaners, gardeners, and laundry staff, every team member plays a vital role in providing comprehensive care and companionship.

Let’s not forget the managers, education and quality improvement teams that help us continue to raise the bar on the quality of person-centred care we provide.

Their efforts in ensuring the wellbeing, comfort, happiness and independence of aged care residents, home support clients, carers and families are truly admirable. We’ve had many memorable moments showcasing our team’s collaborative work with the community and each other during special events, emergency and pandemic situations, and recent renovations to improve our facilities.

Thank you for caring and living up to our promise. We hope our aged care and home support workers enjoy some time to celebrate during afternoon tea today.

Please join us in celebrating our aged care workers today.

Nickola Allan, Chief Executive Officer, Maryborough District Health Service

About us

MDHS provides residential aged care in three modern campuses at Wattle Rise Maryborough, Avoca, and Dunolly, with a total of 94 beds across the three locations. Our residential care facilities have been awarded four and five-star ratings through the My Aged Care government website. These ratings are based on performance in compliance, quality measures, the experience of residents and their families, and staffing.

We also provide in-home support services to help around 200 clients maintain their safety, independence, and wellbeing at home in the Central Goldfields and the north of Pyrenees Shire.
