Celebrating International Nurses Day this May
Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS) will celebrate International Nurses Day on Monday, 12 May, with a special event honouring the invaluable contributions of our nursing team.
This year’s theme is “The Economic Power of Care,” highlighting the significance of self-care for nurses and the essential role they play in patient care and their health.
“To start the day, we have organised a nurses’ breakfast and coffee at our café in Maryborough, as well as at Avoca and Dunolly campuses, allowing nurses to enjoy a delicious breakfast while connecting with colleagues,” said Debbie Rogers, Executive Director of Care, MDHS.
“This informal gathering offers staff a chance to relax together and to be recognised for their hard work and dedication.
“After breakfast, we’ll host a tai chi and meditation session, led by a certified instructor,” said Mrs Rogers.
The wellness activity aims to help our nursing team recharge, alleviate stress and explore the physical and mental benefits of these practices.
“We want to give our nurses a day that recognises not just their remarkable work but contribute to their health and well-being.
“This event is an opportunity for us to show appreciation for our team and to support their physical and mental well-being in a positive, relaxing atmosphere,” said Mrs. Rogers.
MDHS is proud to employ a diverse nursing staff from specialties including acute care, aged care, maternity services, urgent care, palliative care, district nursing, and more, while also training future nurses.
“Join us to say thank you to a nurse this International Nurses Day. Our celebration will aim to foster a sense of community, gratitude and relaxation, to provide nurses with a much-deserved moment to unwind and reflect on their important work,” said Mrs. Rogers
