MDHS welcomes new Graduate Registered Nurses and celebrates Graduate class of 2025

Friday 23rd January, 2026

Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS) has welcomed 10 new graduate registered nurses who have commenced the 12-month Graduate Nurse Program (GNP).

The program supports early-career nurses to transition into professional practice while strengthening the local rural health workforce.

“These nurses play an important role in delivering safe, evidence-based care to our community,” said Debbie Rogers, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Maryborough District Health Service.

The Graduate Nurse Program includes two six-month rotations across a range of clinical areas. Graduates will gain experience at the Dunolly and Avoca campuses, as well as across the Maryborough campus, including wards, theatre, urgent care and community nursing.

New graduate nurse Monique Constable said she was looking forward to beginning her career at MDHS.

“I’m excited to learn as much as I can at MDHS and gain insight into daily operations at a rural health service while caring for the local community,” Ms Constable said.

“Through structured education, hands-on experience and strong clinical support, our graduate nurses will continue to build their skills, confidence and professional capability,” Ms Rogers said.

MDHS also celebrated the achievements of the Graduate Nurse Class of 2025, recognising their commitment and success throughout the program.

“It was a pleasure to formally recognise the graduates as they received their certificates and reflected on their future career pathways.

“On behalf of everyone at MDHS, we congratulate them on their achievements and wish them every success,” Ms Rogers said.

Drawing on her experience as part of the 2025 cohort, Rochelle Paris shared a message with incoming graduates, reflecting on her graduate year at MDHS.

“At MDHS, rural nursing means caring for your community. It means supporting neighbours, friends and at times, people you know well. The connections you form here are genuine and the trust placed in you is deeply felt.

“Nursing at MDHS provides a diverse and enriching clinical experience. You will develop strong skills as you take on a variety of roles, from first responder to advocate and educator, supported by a team that values learning and growth.

“Kindness has a powerful and lasting impact. In our communities, people may not remember every detail of their care, but they will always remember the warmth, respect and compassion you shared. This year is a chance to grow, learn and thrive — make the most of your time at MDHS,” said Ms Paris

MDHS continues to provide a supportive learning environment for graduate nurses while ensuring the community receives safe, compassionate care.
