Connecting community to GREAT care

Meet Cassie – Connecting community to GREAT care

Thursday 12th February, 2026

Meet one of our GREAT people award winner Cassie

Cassie joined MDHS in 2019 as part of the Transition to Practice Program, embarking on a journey she could never have predicted. Rotating through Wattle Rise, Dunolly, and Amherst Ward, she discovered her true calling in Aged Care. From connecting with residents and understanding their needs to supporting her team, Cassie quickly found her passion and purpose.

By 2020, she had stepped into the Associate Nurse Unit Manager gaining invaluable experience before returning to Wattle Rise in June 2023 as Nurse Unit Manager. Today, she oversees the daily operations of the residential community, ensuring every resident feels seen, heard and cared for.

What makes her role so special is the variety and personal connection. No two days are ever the same. The team and residents form an extended family—laughing, supporting and sometimes sharing difficult moments together.

For Cassie, providing care that is kind, respectful, and personal makes a tangible difference in residents’ lives, honouring the full, incredible stories they share.

Cassie draws inspiration not only from the residents but also from her extraordinary team. Skilled, dedicated, and passionate, her colleagues go above and beyond every day, contributing to a workplace culture that is both joyful and deeply caring. This sense of community at MDHS makes the environment unique, where everyone knows each other’s name and genuinely looks out for one another.

For those starting in healthcare, Cassie believes that it’s less about knowing everything and more about knowing where to find the answers. Outside of work, she recharges by running, hitting the gym, and joining Parkrun on Saturday mornings. She admires people who consistently show up, put in the work, and find the good in every situation—even when the effort behind the scenes often goes unseen.

Through her leadership at Wattle Rise, Cassie brings care closer to home. Services that once required travel to the city are now delivered locally, by locals, with compassion, skill, and genuine commitment. Her work exemplifies the heart of MDHS—connecting community to exceptional, person-centered care.
