It’s Aged Care Employee Day on Monday 7 August and Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS) would like to acknowledge the care and compassion of its team of staff who provide quality aged care services in Maryborough, Avoca and Dunolly.
“Delivering great care takes a multi-disciplinary team made up of clinical and non-clinical staff,” said Jaimee Oxford Director of Aged Care, MDHS.
“This includes our dedicated nurses, personal care and home support workers, lifestyle, wellness and reablement teams, allied health staff, plus our education, training and quality improvement teams,” said Ms Oxford.
“Our teams in hospitality, building services and administration also work hard to ensure our residents eat well, can enjoy a well-maintained garden and take care of all the behind-the-scenes details which contribute to a home-like environment.”
MDHS provides residential aged care in three modern campuses at Wattle Rise Maryborough, Avoca and Dunolly, with a total of 94 beds across the three locations.
Its residential care facilities have been awarded four and five-star ratings through the My Aged Care government website.
The ratings are based on performance in relation to compliance, quality measures, the experience of residents and their families, and staffing.
“We take pride in the care and support we provide to our residents, families and carers,” said Ms Oxford.
“And to achieve these high ratings is great recognition of our team’s dedication to optimal resident care.
“As part of our celebrations and to acknowledge our team, we asked residents what they value about the care they receive.
“This prompted an outpouring of heart-felt gratitude, which was so affirming for everyone,” said Ms Oxford.
As a recent extension of aged care services, MDHS now provides a home support program for older Australians in the community in the Northern Pyrenees.
“The program supports clients with cleaning, preparing meals, transport and social support.
“We want to help older people continue to live at home as long as they wish to,” said Ms Oxford.
